A collision between a cyclist and a motorist this morning in the city centre has affected there frequency of trams.

The crash happened at around 8:20am on Tuesday morning after a male cyclist collided with a car coming out of Atholl Crescent Lane.

An eyewitness said: “The man looked around his late 20s or early 30s and was travelling towards Haymarket when he was in a collision with a Volkswagen Polo which was coming out of Atholl Crescent Lane.

"He was treated by a nurse who lived near where the accident happened and he didn’t seem seriously hurt.

"Buses and trams in both directions were suspended for a short period.”

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland added: “At around 8:20am this morning police and emergency services were called to a road traffic collision at Atholl Crescent Lane between a car and a cyclist.

"Emergency services are still in place and enquiries are ongoing.”
