A WOMAN accused of throwing bacon into the Central Mosque told police she was a member of the far-right Scottish Defence League, a court heard.

Chelsea Lambie, 28, from Paisley, and 38-year old Douglas Cruikshank, from Galashiels, both deny behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

It’s alleged at Edinburgh Sheriff Court that they threw bacon into the mosque and wrapped it around the door handle on January 31 last year.

Lambie has lodged two special defences of alibi and incrimination – blaming her sister Samantha.

The court heard that during an interview at St Leonards’ police station, Lambie was asked if she was a member of the Scottish Defence League, and replied: “Yes.” The trial continues.
