MP backs ivory trade campaign

EDINBURGH North and Leith MP Mark Lazarowicz has pledged his support to the fight against the elephant ivory trade.

The Labour member is on the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee, which is leading a major probe into wildlife crime.

Backing the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s campaign against the ivory trade, Mr Lazarowicz said: “I was angered to learn that elephant poaching is on the rise.

“I want the UK to take the lead in the international community to stop elephants dying to fuel the ivory trade.”
