MP welcomes Ofgem moves

AN MP has welcomed moves to reform the energy market, which he says is long overdue.

Mike Crockart, MP for Edinburgh West, has welcomed Ofgem’s proposed energy market reforms, which would give consumers a clearer choice than the 400 tariffs currently available, with each supplier required to offer one standard tariff for each payment type.

In addition, Ofgem wants to see the regulation of bills, annual statements and notifications about price increases.

Mr Crockart said: “This should make it far easier for people to look around and find the best deal for them.”
