DETECTIVES investigating the fatal shooting of Mohammed Abdi said they had received “scores” of calls from potential witnesses.
Officers said the response since the murder of the 25-year-old in Willowbrae on Sunday had been “reassuring”.
A second man appeared in court yesterday on a breach of the peace charge following the shooting.
Ahmed Hussain Ahmed, 27, of Ealing, London, appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and made no plea or declaration. He was remanded in custody.
Ahmed and Mohamud Mohamud, 29, from London, are expected to reappear in court within the next week.
Detective Superintendent Gary Flannigan praised the public response as he urged more witnesses to come forward.
Police are still appealing for anyone who saw a dark blue Volkswagen Sharan and a silver hatchback on Restalrig Road South at around 11pm last Saturday to come forward. The vehicles are believed to have been chased a car carrying Mr Abdi before he was gunned down in Abercorn Avenue at around 1am last Sunday.
