a piece of music inspired by chemistry in Edinburgh is to be premiered on Monday.

The piece, which is so far untitled, was written by composer Julian Wagstaff in honour of all the work by teachers, pupils, industrialists and researchers.

The piece was commissioned by the Royal Society of Chemistry to mark the International Year of Chemistry.

It will be performed by the Hebrides Ensemble at the Canongate Kirk from 8pm, in a programme that also includes Beethoven and Borodin.

The project comes after Wagstaff composed a piece inspired by the work of the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Science at Extreme Conditions, which was performed at the Science Festival. For more information on Monday’s performance see {http://|}.
