Musselburgh police launch blitz on bad behaviour

POLICE have launched a crackdown on antisocial behaviour in a Lothians town after a number of complaints from residents.

Officers have increased patrols in the Stoneybank area of Musselburgh after a series of incidents, including fire-raising, damage to hedges and fences, and littering.

Some residents reported having their doors knocked on by youngsters who then ran away.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokeswoman said patrols of the area had been successful.

She said: “We have an enforcement campaign on the go just now in the Stoneybank area.

“We have had reports of vandalism in the area and there was enforcement action by way of uniformed and plain clothes patrols. The operation is going to continue.”
