Dignitaries and invited guests invited for a live demonstration on Monday, August 1.

The Clyde-built warship will arrive in the city on Friday evening and will be open to Sea Cadets on Saturday.

Commander Tim Berry said: “The Royal Navy has always maintained strong links with Leith and her surrounding maritime community, so we are much looking forward to the visit, which should be great fun.

“Opening HMS Somerset to the public will give the local community an exciting and unique insight into life on board a modern and highly capable naval warship. My sailors will also be looking forward to stepping ashore after a period at sea on national tasking.”

The navy ship will leave Edinburgh on Wednesday afternoon.
