A JEALOUS dad who stabbed his ex-girlfriend’s new partner has been jailed for 43 months.

Victim Graeme Patterson was returning home after taking children to school when he was confronted by Frederick Cairns, 31.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard there was “bad blood” between the two men.

The court heard how they started to scuffle near Sighthill Primary School. Cairns then pulled a knife and lashed out, wounding Mr Patterson on his arm and back. Medics found the knife had just missed a major artery.

Cairns admitted assault to danger of life in Calder Gardens on November 26, 2010.
