New campaign to give football yobs red card

A CAMPAIGN has been launched by a city charity to clamp down on poor behaviour at youth football matches in Edinburgh.

Children 1st will survey parents as part of its Sidelining Bad Behaviour appeal after bosses identified the antics of many adults during matches as unacceptable.

It is part of an overall drive to make football matches in Scotland more of a family-friendly environment.

A spokesman for the charity said: “Our service works with organisations which provide sport and activities to children.

“We hear about poor behaviour at children’s matches and about children being embarrassed, put off their game or reduced to tears as a result.

“We are really keen to hear from children and young people about how this kind of behaviour affects their enjoyment of the game.”
