New shop will cater for outdoor enthusiasts in Edinburgh

The shop will play host to Finisterre’s latest range of custom-built surfboards and a coffee bar with beans from fellow Cornish brand Yallah. They’ve also incorporated seating around the store to encourage “the Finisterre community” to spend more time browsing.

Finisterre produces recycled nylon swimwear, merino base layers, technical recycled insulation jackets, fluorocarbon-free waterproofs, knitwear and denim for men and women. Functionality is key, but the aesthetic is clean, minimal and timeless.

The shop has been busy since opening on May 5, according to Nat Beck, marketing manager for Finisterre: “It’s been great to welcome customers new and old into the store which is already feeling like a place for like-minded people to come together.”

Founder Tom Kay said he was excited to be opening a store in Edinburgh: “It’s a great city where we have a lot of loyal customers. As a place, it’s within easy reach of wild seas and mountains for all kinds of adventures. We’ll be hosting in-store events and talks, and creating a good place for people to come, meet and plan their next trip.”

Finisterre is renowned for the welcome it gives to customers, who are invited to meet the staff and even share a coffee or beer with them.

Kay added: “This space is as much yours as it is ours, so make yourselves feel at home. We look forward to meeting you all.”

Finisterre’s Grade II listed building is a 104 square metre store, restored by reinstating original features but with a contemporary twist. Using materials such as recycled scaffold boards, slate and metal tubing, the multi-functional retail space has high ceilings, large scale imagery and an inviting rustic cabin vibe.

The Edinburgh outlet is the brand’s seventh store, with locations already across London, Bristol, St Agnes, Falmouth, Exeter and Hawksfield.
