New Spin is top of the tree after Youthlink awards win

AN Edinburgh project has triumphed at an awards ceremony recognising achievements in youth work.

The New Spin Project Team scooped the overall winner accolade at Youthlink Scotland’s 2012 National Youth Worker of the Year Awards on Thursday. The team – a partnership between Pilmeny Development Project and Citadel Youth Centre – was set up in January 2010 and works to build relationships between older adults and young people in Leith. New Spin was among 15 individuals and organisations recognised at the ceremony in Glasgow.

Willy Barr, manager at the Citadel Youth Centre, said: “Nothing has had as big an impact on me, my colleagues, the young people and the organisation as a whole as the New Spin Inter-generational Project.

“The energy, enthusiasm and spirit that the intergenerational group bring to the Citadel has transformed how we think and describe our work.”
