a lesson from history

Every year students from across the Capital are invited on a one-day trip to Poland with the Holocaust Educational Trust.

Established in 1988, the trust aims to educate young people about the Holocaust as well as advise teachers on how best to approach the topic in the classroom.

The Lessons from Auschwitz trip sees students visit the former Nazi camp in which millions of people lost their lives, touring the barracks at Auschwitz before moving on to Birkenau where the vast majority of prisoners were murdered.

Every student is invited on a follow-up seminar to reflect on their experiences and the impact the trip had on them.

The hope is that every student will pass on their experiences - and the lessons learned from them - to their classmates, family, and wider community.
