Talk of the Town: Brave kilt lifting strikes bum not

AS Any true Scotsman knows there is a grand tradition when it comes to wearing a kilt that the only thing protecting your modesty be the fabric and perhaps a woolly sporran.

But it seems the good folks in America have taken less than kindly to the bare-faced cheek of our national dress. Censors have slapped a Parental Guidance rating on the film Brave, set to premiere in Edinburgh this year.

The latest bulletin from the Motion Picture Association of America warned that the kids’ film contained “rude humour” and “brief nudity” – both of which are believed to refer to scenes of cartoon clansman lifting their kilts.

TENNIS ace Andy Murray’s mum Judy is obviously a woman used to quality service.

But she got a taste of the city’s traffic chaos last week – tweeting a photo of a broken down bus as she drove along Queen Street.

The bus, suffering suspension problems, appeared to have nose-dived into the road. Judy shared the photo with her 22,000 followers on Twitter, writing: “The Wheels On The Bus Go Round and Round… er no they don’t. Nose diving bus on Edinburgh’s Queen St today.”

When asked by one follower whether it could have been an “obese driver with some heavy weights eating chips at the front?” Judy joked: “haha might have been. Or Dolly Parton at the wheel?”
