Spring launch reveals that charity’s cup runneth over

THE old saying about tea being a cup of life has been confirmed.

The Bethany Christian Trust’s recent spring launch at Loopy Lorna’s Teahouse in Edinburgh was marked by the revelation that the charity’s volunteers give out 23,580 brews to homeless people every year.

“That’s a lot of tea,” says events organiser Hannah Biddulph. “It made me think how comforting a cup of tea is and how we could encourage and inspire others to host a ‘stop for tea and stop homelessness’ event.”

So next time you hand over 20p for the price of a cuppa, you could be changing the world.

A royally good offer

IT’S sure to win a royal seal of approval from some.

Dream result for professor

SINCE launching his “dream app” at the Science Festival in Edinburgh last week, Professor Richard Wiseman has had 200,000 reports cram his dream database, with the programme having been downloaded more than 300,000 times.

He says: “It shows us that people are obviously searching for a better night’s sleep with more pleasant dreams. Now the hard work of analysing the data begins.”
