While major national events can change the way we live, it is usually what is going on in our local neighbourhood that makes the 
biggest difference to our quality of life.

Walking past beautiful flowers and well-kept gardens, rather than graffiti and weeds, for instance, can make an enormous difference to how we feel about our 

A lick of paint in the community hall might be all that is needed to brighten up the lives of the 
hundreds of people who use it.

Having spaces that we can enjoy, or where our children can play in a safe and stimulating 
environment, are tremendously important.

And sometimes it does not take a great deal to make that difference happen. Only it can be 
difficult to get the ball rolling.

Perhaps all you need is a team of volunteers to make your idea for improving life on your street a reality? Maybe you have the willing hands, but you need a community-minded company to donate paint or materials, or the expertise of environmental officers to point you in the right direction?

Well, whichever it is, we are here to help.

We know that community groups across the city are bursting with the ideas and enthusiasm that could transform part of their neighbourhood. We hear about these ideas all the time.

Now we want to make sure that as many of them as possible become reality in the coming months.

We can only do that, though, with your help – and thanks to the support of the city council.
