It’s what they say about buses, isn’t it. None for ages and then they all come at the same time.
Years ago, I used to be on virtually every invitation list in town but these days I seem to be ignored when something new is being launched.
Anyway, while you are reading this I may well be lying in a darkened room, as last night I had two events for which I was on the guest list.
First was the opening of Vapiano, a new Italian restaurant in the foodie quarter just off St Andrew Square.
A friend who goes to London often for work says this is one of his favourite lunchtime restaurants in the Big Smoke, so I was very chuffed to be asked to sample their grub.
However, I shall not have stayed there for long as I would have had to hot foot it over to Festival Square by the Sheraton for the first night of Le Clique in the Spiegeltent that has been erected over the festive season.
Most people to whom I mention this show say that it is basically quite brilliant, but are also amazed that I have never seen it in all the years it has been on during the Fringe.
I do remember thinking I should go, but it always seemed to start about midnight – a bit late for yours truly to be honest. Luckily, over Christmas it will be at a far more sensible time of 8pm. There are other shows on earlier in the same venue if you are around during the day.
So that’s my week come to a fairly exciting end and also means that if you happen to meet me I shall sound like I really have got my finger on the Edinburgh pulse.
I shall be able to tell you if Vapiano really is any good and describe the amazing acts lined up in Le Clique.
I mean I wouldn’t even bother Googling either of them – just drop me a line but maybe wait until mid morning.
