Scotland has come a long way in terms of race relations, but there is a long way to go. The alleged incident in West Pilton, where youths apparently racially abused and pelted stones on two teenagers of Pakistani and Arabian ethnicity, is a salient reminder of the long way ahead. While the alleged perpetrators have been arrested, ELREC believes that it is essential to go beyond arrests and statistics of hate crime.
