John McLellan: Edinburgh is to be lit by moonlight
Over the next two years, 63,000 lanterns will be upgraded, potentially saving £54 million over 20 years, and linked to a new control system to allow remote adjustments without the need for on-site lighting engineers.
It also means the end of the orange city glow with a white light chosen instead, which officials claim has been likened to moonlight in places where it has been installed, like Leicestershire.
Presumably not new moons ...
The linking of existing LED lamps is now underway, and hopefully it will mean better illumination in streets which have become like 1930s movies.
The programme is expected to finish in May 2021.
