Out of the blocks, past Leith Docks

Hundreds of runners took part in the Kilomathon events around Edinburgh yesterday, with a new record set by the winner of the half-kilomathon.

Kenneth Heney, 35, from London, completed the 13.1km course in 48 minutes, 27 seconds. The race started at the Leith Docks and set off past the Royal Yacht Britannia and on to Murrayfield Stadium.

First woman home was Edinburgh University student Gail Stride, 23, in a time of 57 minutes, 1 second.
