Robert Gill denied child sex abuse charges spanning more than two decades, including the rape of two boys, who were aged just 13 and 14.

Yesterday, it took the jury less than two hours to return a unanimous verdict finding him guilty of four charges of child sexual assault, two counts of lewd and indecent behaviour and of taking and possessing indecent photographs of children.

The jury also found him guilty of the two rape charges and two further charges of lewd, indecent practices towards underage boys.

Gill, a former ice-cream salesman, preyed on teenage boys in west Edinburgh between 1993 and 1996 and in Bo’ness between August 2010 and February last year.

He was remanded for reports until sentence on March 9 at the High Court in Edinburgh.
