TWO people have appeared in court in connection with an alleged stabbing in Livingston.

Jamie Espie and Nikita Henderson, both 21, appeared on petition in private at Livingston Sheriff Court.

Each faces one charge of assault to severe injury and two charges of carrying offensive weapons.

Espie, of no fixed abode, and Henderson, from Uphall, made no plea or declaration.

The cases were continued for further examination with Espie being remanded in custody and Henderson released on bail.

A Crown Office spokesman said Espie was due to return to court for full committal on Christmas Eve.

The date of Henderson’s next appearance is still to be confirmed.

Both were detained by police after a teenager was allegedly stabbed in the stomach after an argument on a footpath.

The 18-year-old was walking along a footpath between Knightsridge and the Houston Industrial Estate at 7.15pm on Wednesday.

He was treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for injuries which were described as “non-life threatening”.
