Pair rescued from flat fire

A WOMAN and a disabled child were rescued by fire crews after a blaze broke out in a five-storey building in Buckingham Terrace.

Neighbours raised the alarm when the fire started in a first-floor hallway shortly after 10pm last night.

The woman and child were taken to the ERI for precautionary checks. At the scene today, one worker said the fire had been started by a faulty sanding machine.
