Parents should take responsibility for youths

A POLICE officer has called on the parents of unruly youths to take responsibility for the actions of their offspring.

Jacqueline Whale, of the Portobello safer neighbourhood team, has noted a large number of calls relating to antisocial behaviour in the Findlays and Restalrig Drive areas of the Capital.

She said: “We are still receiving lots of calls regarding youths causing annoyance to residents and damaging property.

“The police and city council continue to work together to identify the culprits. Please note, robust action will be taken. Parents of the youths must take responsibility for their actions.”

Meanwhile, a man was apprehended in nearby Sleigh Drive following reports of a bogus caller.

More than 1350 cars were also monitored in the street following concerns over speeding. Their average speed was found to be less than the 30mph limit.
