Parents sue for a million

THE parents of a girl struck by a car on her way home from school are suing East Lothian Council for £1 million.

Melissa Shearer was left in a coma after being knocked down outside St Gabriel’s Primary School in Prestonpans in 2009 when she was eight.

Now 12, the schoolgirl suffers from a number of problems likely to require life-long care.Her parents claims their daughter’s view of the road was impeded after a bus stop was moved without a risk assessment.
