Park patrols over fire risk

RANGERS and police will patrol Holyrood Park tonight in an effort to avoid wildfires caused by fireworks.

The park roads will also be closed to traffic from 6pm to midnight.

Extra safety measures have been brought in over the past few years to avoid fires which destroy plants and kill wildlife.

A Historic Scotland spokesman said: “This year we’ll be working once again with police and the fire service to help reduce the risk to the park, and would encourage people to attend organised firework displays.”
