Indian restaurant Mithas celebrated its first birthday in style last night.

The Dock Place venue launched a competition to win a once-in-a-lifetime Indian experience with flights, hotels and a visit to the Taj Mahal.

The owners said they wanted to offer their thanks to customers who had helped the eatery pick up the Indian Restaurant of the Year award.

Vikrant Sharma and Priyanka Sangwan had their passports ready ahead of the competition.

Earlier this year, Kirsty Wark became guest chef at the restaurant in Leith for one night only having previously cooked an Indian dish on BBC’s Celebrity Masterchef.

Ahead of that St Columba’s Hospice fundraiser, Kirsty said: “It’s a big challenge, but also a great opportunity to help a fantastic cause.”
