Pensioner in hospital after Iona Street stair fall
A PENSIONER has been taken to hospital after reportedly falling down a set of stairs in a city tenement.
Police closed off the tenement building in Iona Street this morning after being called out to the incident at 7.45am, with reports the woman had been found with a head injury in the street outside the building.
The 67-year-old woman was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment where she is currently in a stable condition.
A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said they had attended Iona Street, adding: “It was a patient out in the street. She has been taken to the Royal Infirmary.”
