AN elderly woman was treated for smoke inhalation following a fire at a house in Howden Hall Road in Edinburgh.

Fire crews were called to the incident at the two-storey house at around 6pm yesterday and remained at the scene for almost an hour, using four breathing apparatus and three hose reels to put out the flames.

The woman was given oxygen at the scene.

The home was badly damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
