AN elderly woman had her arm broken after being assaulted in the city centre.

The 65-year-old was pushed over following an altercation between a group of people on George IV Bridge last Monday.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place around 12.30pm.

A male suspect is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, mid to late 20s, with short or shaved ginger hair, pale complexion, and a slim build. He was wearing dark navy jeans and a black jacket.

Detective Sergeant Lynsey Thomson, from Police Scotland, said: “The lady has suffered a serious injury as a result of this incident, and we are appealing to those who were in the area at the time who saw what happened to come forward.

“George IV Bridge is a busy thoroughfare and there is no doubt that there are people who were in the area who witnessed this incident, which led to the lady suffering a serious injury.”

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
