Pensioner stable after being run over by car

A PENSIONER is in a serious condition after being knocked down in Oxgangs Farm Drive yesterday afternoon.

The 85-year-old woman was hit by a blue Kia Picanto as she was crossing the road at the junction with Oxgangs Road North at around 1pm.

She was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where she is understood to be in a serious but stable condition. Oxgangs Farm Drive was closed for around two-and-a-half hours while teams examined the scene.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward with any information but it is understood there had been no evidence of criminality.

A police spokesman said: “We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.”
