Actor Emily Atack has taken to Twitter to ask for Edinburgh’s best restaurants, and was not disappointed by the response, with some big names offering tips.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Tom Kitchin recommended his own restaurant The Kitchin on Commercial Quay in Leith with a friendly: “Drop me a line if I can help. Cheers.”

Gail Porter threw out Gordon’s Trattoria on the High Street or the Witchery by the Castle on Castlehill as her top choices.

Some Edinburgh locals seemed keen for Emily to avoid the classier spots and join in with a more classic approach to socialising in the Capital, with one tweeter commenting: “Tinnies in the Meadows.”

Another helpful tweeter suggested £1 a shot party spot Bar Salsa, which you can’t argue with.

More than a few recommended to head to Glasgow, or back to England. We aren’t offended...honestly.
