Avengers stars touch down as filming begins in Edinburgh

Stars of the latest instalment of The Avengers series have arrived in Edinburgh ahead of filming in the Capital.

Social media has been filled with reported sightings of Avengers stars since filming crews arrived in Edinburgh, however, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paui Bettany has been spotted in the Capital.

Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch in the series was seen entering the Balmoral Hotel on Tuesday ahead of filming.

Keen fans have witnessed a number of scenes being shot in the Capital with Paul Bettany, who plays Vision in the series seen filming an action scene.

Stunt doubles have also been in action with Olsen’s stunt double shooting with Betany in Waverley station, which is home to a 40ft green screen and cafe facade.

As well as the arrival of two of the stars, it is rumoured that others could be on their way.

Jeremy Renner is also expected to soon begin filming in the Capital after he tweeted a picture of himself on a plane with the caption ‘It’s time’

Production got underway last week with lighting and stunt test taking place in the Old Town.

We previously revealed the schedule of the filming and some of the locations that were being used as part of the shoot.

It is unknown if any more stars will be arriving in the Capital, but fans will be eager to try and catch a glimpse of the super heroes in the upcoming weeks.

Estimates claim that the Avengers will raise more than £10 million for the Capital.

John Donnelly, chief executive of Marketing Edinburgh, said: “Having a high-profile film shoot in the city unquestionably puts Edinburgh on the movie map.
