The retired widow is a regular customer of the home delivery service Parsley Box, whom she called to place an order but had a sudden fall.

Concerned employee Russell Clark, who was speaking to Mrs Reid when the accident happened, acted swiftly and called an ambulance to urgently attend her home.

The compassionate worker also stayed on the phone with the vulnerable customer until a friend arrived to comfort her.

Mrs Reid’s grateful daughter, Mary Reid said the kindness Mr Clark showed her family during their time of need was “way beyond” what is expected of him.

She said: “We are all hugely grateful for the outstanding care they took to ensure our mum was OK, it was way beyond what any of us would expect.”

After being treated in the hospital Mrs Reid has since been recovering in residential care and is due to move back home later this week with the help of her family and carers.

Speaking of the incident, customer care agent, Mr Clark said: “We’ve always valued the great relationships we have with our customers and look to go the extra mile.

“This was no exception, once we became aware of the situation, we knew we had to act fast and keep Nancy reassured until help came.”

He went on to say that he was thankful that Nancy was able to receive the help she needed so quickly and wished her a speedy recovery.

He said: “Thankfully, Nancy was taken promptly to hospital for treatment and we wish her a speedy recovery.”

CEO of Parsley Box Kevin Dorren said: “Parsley Box was founded three years ago by Gordon and Adrienne MacAulay, on the basis of providing next-day delivery service of tasty, conveniently stored meals which enable people like Mary’s mother to remain independent in their own homes. We aim to go above and beyond where-ever possible, so it’s great to hear we’ve been able to support a customer when they needed us most.”
