Cox, who played Monica in the hit US sitcom, is friends with the Northern Irish singer through her rock star boyfriend Johnny McDaid, 39, of Snow Patrol.

She remained backstage for most of the Elton gig but emerged on to the running track for his encore which included Candle In The Wind and Crocodile Rock.

She happily posed for pictures with spectators and danced along to the superstar’s hits.

One onlooker said: “She looked very relaxed and seemed to be having a great time.
