She has not toured since 2014 and has made only a handful of appearances at one-off shows.

However, as she gets set to perform a UK tour next month, records filed at Companies House show her absence has not dented her bank balance.

Her main company, Duil Limited, has more than £1.2 million in the bank while her second firm, Speur Business, has assets worth £463,017.

Speur Films - set up amid plans for a Hollywood movie about her rise to fame - has £3,469. A fourth firm, Speur Limited, has assets of more than £127,000.

Miss Boyle, from Blackburn, West Lothian, is director and the owner of all the shares in her companies, which handle income from her music, live performances and merchandising.

The amount in these accounts is thought to only be a fraction of her total earnings.

Miss Boyle, nicknamed SuBo, got her big break with her performance of I Dreamed A Dream on Britain's Got Talent.

She has since released eight albums and sold over 20 million records.

In 2009, she paid £65,000 to buy the three-bedroom former council house in Blackburn, where she grew up.

The following year, she bought a five-bedroom £300,000 new-build detached villa at the other end of the small town, which she calls The Posh House.

However, she couldn't settle there, and moved back home. She has said her only extravagances were a £300 fur coat and the occasional bottle of Chanel No 5 from duty free shops.

Her mini-tour next month will start at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh on March 1 and will finish on March 11 in Manchester.
