Man, 86, dies in hospital after being hit by car in East Lothian

An 86-year-old man who died in hospital after being involved in a collision with a car in East Lothian has been named by police.

William Knox was struck by a black Honda Civic while crossing the A6093 road in Dovecot Park, Pencaitland, at about 7;10am on Thursday January 9th.

He was taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he died as a result of his injuries.

A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal

Sergeant John Easton, Livingston Road Policing Unit, said: "Although this happened early in the morning, we know from CCTV that there was a white van in the area just around the time of the crash.

"It was not involved in the incident but the driver may have seen something or have dash-cam footage that may help our investigation.“
