The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said it responded to a “shots fired” incident on July 12 earlier this year in the Hollywood area of the city.

An argument is said to have taken place in a vehicle shared by Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez, with shots fired into the air before the car in question drove off.

"Multiple individuals” were detained when police officers performed a traffic stop on the offending car.

Mr Peterson was charged with being in possession of a concealed weapon, while police say an individual was taken to hospital for a foot injury.

Ms Pete later alleged that she suffered gunshot wounds during the confrontation and that she “underwent surgery” to have the bullets removed.

She later named Mr Peterson as the alleged shooter, saying in a statement: “I get out the car, I’m done arguing … I’m walking away. [Lanez], from out the back seat of the car, starts shooting me. You shot me.”

She also said that she initially told the police she had stood in glass over fears they would start shooting at the suspect if they knew a gun was involved.

She said: “The police come, I’m scared. Police was literally killing black people for no reason. The police is really aggressive. You think I’m about to tell the police that us black people got a gun in the car?”
