Sam Johnston, 11, has been making young neighbours feel special by performing for them at his front door.

He started playing after a mum on a local Facebook group asked locals to sing Happy Birthday for her child.

Sam has so far played for two neighbours, Josie Wheatley, who turned seven yesterday, and Brodie Andrews, four, who celebrated his birthday on Saturday.

His proud mum, Fiona, 46, said: “He thought it would be a nice thing as music is uplifting and that if it made anyone feel special on their birthday then that was great.

“The neighbours have all been asking if he can play for their kids for birthdays coming up and a lot of them have been coming to windows or doors to sing Happy Birthday as he performs.”

Emma Wheatley, 39, said: “Josie was delighted and was so happy as her birthday party had to be cancelled – she was tickled pink.”
