The family development worker for the Church of Scotland at Northesk Church made it her mission to put a smile on the faces of locals during the coronavirus lockdown.

She commented: “I sing in a band every weekend and miss performing.

“I love music and it connects with people.

“There's a lot of anxiety and loneliness just now and I was just trying to cheer folk up by doing a small thing.

“I've been part of a group working in pioneer ministry and fresh expressions.

“I didn't know to connect with people all I had to do was step outside the building and sing a song.”

Her performance was broadcast live across social media, recorded by her son, Adam Fortheringhame and has received a positive response with one person saying she had ‘a lump in her throat and tears in her eyes’ after hearing it.

Miss McBrearty said she would be performing on the street every Thursday evening after the claps for NHS workers and care workers.
