Detective Constable Christina Yeoman of Gayfield CID said: “Thankfully the fire was quickly brought under control by the fire service. However the consequences of this act could have been much worse and we are eager to trace those responsible.

We believe that one of the men involved may have facial burns or other burns as a result of the fire. We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen, or know someone, with recent, unexplained burn injuries since the early hours of Sunday morning.

Anyone with information that can assist in our investigations can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 280 of Sunday the 19th August, or call charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
