A PERSON has died after a fire ripped through a top floor flat in Livingston.
The blaze, which started at around 3pm yesterday, saw two crews rush to Tweed Drive in the town’s Craigshills area.
Firefighters used two high-pressure hose reels and breathing apparatus in an attempt to control the flames.
A full search of the flat was carried out and a body was found after crews forced entry to the property.
Police closed off streets in the surrounding area as firefighters continued to battle the blaze for around four hours. It is believed the victim was a woman.
A police spokesman said: “Emergency services in West Lothian were called to a house fire on Tweed Drive, Livingston, at around 3pm yesterday.
“A body has been found on the premises and an enquiry into the full circumstances is currently ongoing.”
A fire service spokesman said crews left the scene at around 7.30pm last night.
