Pioneering op for girl
An 18-month-old girl from West Lothian has become among the first in Scotland to benefit from new state-of-the-art equipment which helps doctors perform keyhole surgery.
The £100,000 facility in Edinburgh was funded by donations to the Sick Kids Friends Foundation.
Rowan Crombie, who lives in Philpstoun, West Lothian, underwent keyhole surgery at the hospital after developing a cyst close to her liver.
Her father Keith said the procedure meant she suffered less discomfort, healed quicker compared to open surgery, and had less scarring.
