Podium in sight for crew

the first podium place could be in sight this weekend for the Capital’s entry in the Clipper Round the World yacht race.

Edinburgh Inspiring Capital has been in the top three for several days as the fleet heads towards the finish line of race 11 in New York.

The 68ft yacht is expected to reach New York tonight, and yesterday there were just 31 nautical miles separating her from leaders Gold Coast Australia and Visit Finland.

Skipper Flavio Zamboni said: “Today has been another day of close racing, waiting for the latest position report every six hours to check our progress against the competitors.

“Throughout the day they were mostly positive, showing we were holding our position against most of the fleet.”
