Police appeal for witnesses to pensioner’s crash death

Police have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses to a road crash in which a cyclist was killed to come forward.

Audrey Fyfe, 75, died after suffering severe head injuries in a collision with a car in Portobello Road at its junction with Craigentinny Avenue on August 9.

A police spokesman said: “Anyone with information that can assist with our inquiries is asked to come forward.

“We specifically wish to trace and speak with two pedestrians who were standing on the southbound footpath of Portobello Road opposite Craigentinny Avenue, the driver of a gold-coloured small hatchback that was parked in Craigentinny Avenue outside the Royal Bank of Scotland and the driver of a small dark- coloured estate car that was waiting to turn right into Portobello Road from Craigentinny Avenue at the time of the collision.”
