Police to appoint new lay equality advisers

POLICE are to appoint eight new lay advisers to monitor force investigations of hate crimes and other equality issues following a recruitment drive.

The force received 21 applications for the posts of lay advisers, who are asked to influence strategy and operations dealing with diversity and equality.

Those appointed are: Alastair Bowden, Huda Donald, Mohammed Hameed, Olga Matejak, David McGuire, Iteye Ogbo, Sophie Tolley and Gary Wilson.

A reserve list to fill future vacancies will be created.
