Police assault woman put on drug order course

Have your say

A WOMAN smashed a tumbler and slashed her arms with the broken glass after police were called to a disturbance.

Donna Strachan threatened officers when they tried to stop her harming herself at the house in Armadale, West Lothian.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told that Strachan, 31, was arrested for breach of the peace and taken to Livingston Police Station.

But she again turned aggressive and attacked a female police officer, biting her repeatedly on the arm.

And when Strachan was taken to St John’s Hospital in Livingston to have her self-inflicted wounds treated, she assaulted another police officer by spitting at him.

Strachan, of Armadale, yesterday appeared for sentence on two counts of police assault and one of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner. She pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.

Sheriff Ian Anderson put her on a drug treatment and testing order for a year.

He told her: “You have to be on your best behaviour.”
