Police have arrested and charged a 20-year-old man in connection with a series of thefts from vehicles in Haddington.

A number of electrical items including sat nav equipment were stolen from three vehicles in Templedean, Gifford Gate and Traprain overnight from Monday into Tuesday.

Police on patrol in Haddington arrested a man in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and recovered all of the stolen items.

He was due to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court on Wednesday in connection with the thefts, as well as a breach of bail conditions.

Local Inspector Ian Mackay said: “The vehicles that were broken into had been left unlocked, and I want to remind people of the importance of securing their vehicles, in order to deny would-be thieves the opportunity of an easy target.”
