Police dog detains suspected robber in Silverknowe
A POLICE dog named Harper was called into action to help officers arrest a suspected robber in a garden.
The 21-year-old man was captured in Silverknowe Brae on Tuesday after officers from the national housebreaking taskforce, Operation RAC, were alerted to suspicious activity in the area.
A number of police vehicles responded and the dog handler was deployed to detain the suspect from a garden.
Officers are currently pursuing positive lines of inquiry in relation to one other suspect.
Inspector Neil Whiteside said: “Through Operation RAC we are continuing to use all available resources at our disposal to pursue perpetrators of acquisitive crime and put them before the courts.
