Police hold action days in crackdown

Police and partner agencies have carried out two “days of action” in East Lothian to tackle a range of crimes across the county.

Officers joined community wardens and officials from the Safety Camera Partnership in Prestonpans, Port Seton and Longniddry on Friday and Saturday.

High-visibility patrols were deployed to offer reassurance to local residents and businesses and offer crime prevention advice.

During the operation, ten youths had alcohol taken from them and police are following a positive line of inquiry to identify a man believed to be responsible for buying alcohol for under-18s.

Community beat sergeant, Hamish MacLean said: “This demonstrated that we are committed to tackling issues, which have an adverse impact on our communities.”
